Steam Deck Excitement
As you all probably know by now, the Steam Deck was open to pre-order this last Friday June 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. PDT. I was fortunate enough to easily get $5 down on the 512 gb model. I wish I could say it was quick, it wasn’t, but it was also not too bad for me. It took maybe a total of 20 minutes at most. Either way, I’m very excited because I get to be an early adopter in something that might change the way I game on the go. Right now I use a Switch Lite. I hate it. Absolutely hate it. However, my job is a graveyard shift with little to do and I need to keep myself busy so that is why I bought it. I hate about 99% of Nintendo properties and really just play games that I can get on the computer on my Switch, like Monster Hunter Stories 2. And that’s why I’m excited about the Steam Deck. It will allow me to play my Steam library on the go. On top of that, I will put Windows on it and then I’ll hopefully be able to put my Xbox GamePass on it. I will be able to finally have fun and throw that Switch away, so to speak. That’s what I’m essentially betting on. Now, this may read like an “Steam Deck is better than the Switch” blog post. I do not think so. It’s a post about how someone, me, has a new way to enjoy the games I love. This is not an indictment on the Switch. Nintendo has their fans and I think the Switch is great for them. I am not in that group. That’s who the Steam Deck is aimed towards. They are completely separate from each other and there is no rivalry no matter what people will try to say. I hope I get to love my Steam Deck as much as a Switch fan loves their Switch. Remember, don’t hate other gamers for having fun. Unless it’s incels making a game toxic. Hate them with the fury of facts ruining their immersion.
